Director, Christopher Martini chats with CiaoDC on his latest film, "The Man You Don't Know."

An artistic team of Italian producers, directors and composers create the masterpiece of a newly released film about Donald J. Trump dubbed, "The Man You Don't Know," playing now in theatres near you!

Global Ascension Studios presents, “The Man You Don’t Know,” an inside analysis of the Republican nominee and soon to be the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. CiaoDC’s Host, Alyssa Ciccone chatted with Director and Writer of The Man You Don’t Know, Chris Martini, to discuss the journey that led him to creating this film. It all started with the brainchild of the film, Italian American Producer, Joshua Marcello. “…this film is an exploration of his (Trump’s) life…and has only validated what I already felt about the man…the media and politicians…have completely misrepresented him…it’s an unapologetic view of this man’s life,“ says Martini.

Listening to the depth of the character of Trump, and from my own adoration of him - I can see the correlation to the heart of the Italian culture and the Italian family to that of the Trump family and particularly of “The Don.” Countless stories of helping those in need. A story of family. A story of generosity and hard work. A story of the American spirit can all be found in this film. Something every Italian immigrant can attest to. “There are countless stories of Donald Trump helping others,” says Martini.

“My sisters, my mom and I all feel like Trump is like my Italian father whom we beloved. Always taking care of people, enjoying music, food, etc,” says CiaoDC Host, Alyssa Ciccone.

Martini reveals how the film delves into the values that shaped Trump’s life…the stories are told from the point of view of his children, Don Jr., Eric, Lara Trump and close friends. The film was written and produced in two months - a speedy turn around in the film world. “Our goal was to get the film out before the election. My father from Rome always told me that political films are important because they are timely,” explains Martini.

In chatting with Chris, the idea of growing up Italian and what is means to be in an Italian family - the sacrifice, the dependence on our parents and siblings and our conviction to fight for each other is the same story I sense I will find here in The Man You Don’t Know. Watching Trump fight for this country and energize the crowds at his rallies relentlessly and his loyal love for his family - his children, his grandchildren, his wife - is so relatable as an Italian American. And oh the opera by Chris Macchio that ended Butler, PA Reunion Rally and the Republican National Convention - Ava Maria brings me straight to my father walking me down the aisle at the Italian Church in Washington, D.C. at Holy Rosary on 3rd & F Street or at a piazza near the Piazzaelle di Michelangelo where I lived in Florence.

I asked Chris what being Italian brought to the art of filmmaking. “(Italians) we’re very emotional people, as a filmmaker my art comes from my heart…” says Chris. Thankfully his heart will tell the country a new story of hope, resilience and love that we all will love to see from a man that we all admire.
